Entries for the Young Cheesemonger Award 2020 are now open!

The Young Cheesemonger Award, held at the British Cheese Awards, is all about supporting young talent working within the industry. Becoming an expert cheesemonger is more than just learning about how to cut cheese. It’s about knowing all the cheese varieties, how to care for them and understanding how they are made. The Young Cheesemonger Award will take place on Friday 29 May 2020 during the Royal Bath & West Show at the Bath & West Showground in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. Contestants will take part in four rounds of competition to find the Young Cheesemonger 2020.

  • Round One: Cheese board proposal and discussion
  • Round Two: Weigh/wrap exercise
  • Round Three: Identification
  • Round Four: MasterRind Questions

Finalists are invited to the British Cheese Awards Dinner on the evening of Thursday 28 May. As well as receiving the coveted title of Young Cheesemonger 2020, the winner will receive an award and cheese iron to keep, will be featured by Fine Food Digest, will be invited to judge at the World Cheese Awards 2020 in Spain and at the British Cheese Awards 2020. Fine Food Digest are also offering an Academy of Cheese Level 2 course to the winner.
